Senoritis

Most kids today know what Senioritis (Sen-ior-itis) is, but if you don't know what it is then I am here to tell you and explain this process. Senoiritis is a state of mind, where you are done with doing school work in your senior year or end of junior year. Senioritis is pretty much the excuse people use to not do their work and/or you just want to be done with school completely.

Many kids at my high school get "Senioritis" when they enter or halfway through their Senior year. I am here to tell you how to combat Senioritis. The first step is to just remember that you have to do work to graduate and if you don't then you wont period. The second step is to try and take it day by day and do all of your work on time. Step three don't procrastinate just do the work and get it over with as fast as possible. Step four ifyou do all of these things then your senior year will go by very quickly and you will be on your way to getting your diploma!

The NAACP Today

People say the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) today isn't relevant anymore but I beg to differ.

The NAACP has had many initiatives in the past and in the future years about racial discrimination against all people for example: the Stop Campaign, the Vote Now Campaign and many others.

The NAACP is here for all people, we have been trying to get civil rights for all since 1909 and 1938 for the Youth and College Division. The NAACP is devoted to engaging all people of all races, ethnicities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and as most people know the NAACP is a non-partisan organization.

If you would like to know more go to www.NAACP.org to find out more and read the mission statement and join. Do you think the NAACP is relevent today why or why not?

Swine Flu: H1N1

The H1N1 Virus or as others know it as the Swine Flu pandemic/epidemic has not gone on unnoticed by many.

The H1N1 Virus is still having an effect as of June 10th, 2009 the World Health Organization (WHO) said there are approximately 28,000 +/- H1N1 Swine Flu cases world wide. On June 5th the Center for Disease Control (CDC) said there are approximatley 10,100 +/- confirmed cases in the United States.

So this influenza virus is going no where it is still spreading the numbers keep coming out with more and more cases being found every day. Some of the things you can do to keep safe since the fatality rate is down to about 2.2% just make sure you are doing the following things:

* Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.

* Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.

* Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth and try to avoid close contact with sick people.

* If you get sick, The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
